The Trial of the Chicago 7, on Netflix, is a feature film from Dreamworks / written and directed by Aaron Sorkin.
While I knew little of the topic before hand I feel fully educated now. The dialog is amazing, as you would expect in a Sorkin film, and the action and pacing was right on par with a good Heist movie. You barely realize it's a courtroom drama with all the cut scenes. Sacha Baron Cohen is really great as Abbie Hoffman, as is Eddie Redmayne as Tom Hayden. The dialog and chemistry between all the parties is gripping.
You can really get a feel for the dynamic of the group changing as the trial wears on. I'd love to know how much of the dialog was based on actual court transcripts, and how much Sorkin embellished. But I never had a feeling it was being "overdone".
Coming in at just over 2 hours, I felt no need to start fiddling with my phone as a distraction.
