I thought they outlawed Jolt after it made a bunch of hillbillies go blin
Not sure how it'd make you go blind, it's just like drinking 2 cokes. Modern day energy drinks have more nowadays.
My daughter now likes that brand of Yerba Mate that comes in a yellow can. Interesting, I thought - I drank a lot of Mate in the 2000s, steeped from lo leaves. Mateine is a stimulant in Mate that doesn't cause the same jitters t caffeine does.
Then, I looked at the can. It's got tons of sugar and added caffeine! Makes sense.
I remember Jolt Cola. I tried one and about 10 minutes later I thought I was going to have to go to the hospital! The effects lasted almost 2 hours on me Whew what a bad ride.

In college, they held a lottery system for the food court venues to get breakfast and lunch slots. One year, the Barn N' Bun, a hot dog place, got a breakfast slot. They had the tankard of bad coffee, shrink-wrapped muffins, as a call back to their roots, a "Breakfast Special" - A Hot Dog and a Jolt cola.
The nitrates, caffeine and sugar could knock you out of any late-night codin induced stupor.

with 2 quarts of water, and that's my beverage. They have low
calories and no sugar, and it tastes better than just plain water
(too bland for my taste). Or as the late W.C. Fields noted, "I don't
drink water. Fish [have sex] in it". <G>
