Consider this yet another one of my typical "noob sysop" questions, but is it taboo or otherwise an issue to change ones QWK-ID on DOVE-Net? I ask because the one I chose was done in a bit of a rush in the "testing things" phase of me seeing if I want to be a sysop and I'd like to switch it to something a little more concise, which would work better with the dynamic DNS function that synchro.net provides. I'm sure you can all understand wanting clean presentation and all that.

Just curious. I'd imagine I simply create a new ID on VERT and change my config to the new ID and things will work themselves out. I question, however, how this would affect the SBBS list (duplicate entries anyone?) among other possible issues I may not be able to foresee so I wanted to inquire before I tried anything and created some chaos. I respect your efforts, Rob, and don't want to be any more of a bother than I already am as an amateur sysop - last thing I want to do is make a mess of things!

Also, yes, I re-posted this here as I originally accidentally posted in Synchronet SYSOP's and not DOVE-Net SYSOPS. My failures know no bounds!

you should request that the sysop of vert changes your account name.
then change the settings in scfg and delete your msg base files manually in sbbs/data and then poll
vert.

Eventually, yes. You may end up with some duplicate or missing DOVE-Net messages, if you care.

Probably best to delete your BBS entry first. Unless you're going to change the name of your BBS too, in the process (?).

Alrighty. I'll make note and plan a good time to change things over. If things get messy I'll just take it as a learning experience. Deleting the old BBS entry makes sense as well. Guess I know what I'm doing today. :D
