• sub-board order

From Grasshopper@VERT/ONENESS to All on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 18:45:13
    Hello,
I was trying to fix an error that cropped up when trying to pull DOVE-NET messages. The error stated that there was "No such file or directory" and I saw the path to /sbbs/data/subs/dove-general and tried to correct it but when I couldn't, I thought I could just delete the sub-board and then re-create it exactly. Well, that didn't quite work either. Now, I have the additional cosmetic thing of the board being out of order. Is there anyway to put it back into order?

I am also seeing this error but not sure how to correct it:

    Mon Jun 22 03:50:10 2020 oneness-bbs.dragonflymoon.org
    evnt QNET !ERROR 2 (No such file or directory) in getmsg.cpp line 86 (loadmsg) reading "(049C20) #435/435 /sbbs/data/subs/dove-syncdisc" access=-103 info=smb_getmsghdr corrupt message header ID (2E 31 39 34) at offset 302112

Not sure how to fix this?
    Thanks for any help.

Yes. Get into SCFG and go to DoveNet message sub-boards list.
Highlight the one that's out of order. Look at the bottom of your
screen and you'll see commands: ^X to cut it, then move the
cursor/lightbar to where you want it to be in the list and use ^C
    to copy it there. Done.

Not real sure, but you could run the "Check Message Base" utility
on that message base (Synchronet Discussion). Look here:

    http://wiki.synchro.net/util:chksmb

There is also a utility to fix errors called "fixsmb" but not
documented well, perhaps running it with no arguments will give a
    usage instruction.

    Hello Gamgee!

screen and you'll see commands: ^X to cut it, then move the
cursor/lightbar to where you want it to be in the list and use ^C

That worked like a charm! Thanks so much. It was so simple, I am surprised I didn't see that to begin with.

There is also a utility to fix errors called "fixsmb" but not

That worked also! "fixsmb" worked flawlessly! Thanks so much! I was banging my head against the wall trying to figure that one out. Also with chksmb, there were 8 sub-boards found with errors.
Thanks so much for the information!

Yeah, I guess RTFM.. right? Yeah, I do read the manual but perhaps not the whole thing. Get the installation and setup read and that was about it. Just didn't think of searching to solve errors. :)

I just googled 'synchronet fix message headers' ... followed 1st on list was http://wiki.synchro.net/util:smbutil ... Repair

reading manuals and all is good, tho it makes for a pretty long read :/

Hehe. Yep, there is a lot of info and help there. It should
usually be your first thought on most anything SBBS-related. :-)

You can also hang out in the IRC channel for near real-time
    (usually) help with stuff.

Yes, you can re-arrange areas in SCFG using cut and paste.

Start with fixsmb. Use chksmb to see if it's fixed.

    Hello Digital Man,

I will work on getting the write protocol for leaving messages on here next time. My apologies for not getting that right.

Thank you for the response but I have already figured this out via previous posts by other SYSOPS here.
