Are the wiki instructions for joining Dovenet... up to date? Or did I just screw up badly somewhere?

I setup Synchronet on a Debian VPS, created a QWK account here on Vertrauen, and can successfully poll for and import messages. REP packets apparently get sent, but never get posted, and a week later the board still isn't listed in the net list, so I can't test incoming netmail. There's one enigmatic error in the logs each time, but I don't know if that's normal... or relevant.

have you put properly the account information to long on dovenet
properly in your setting ?

in the call-out command line you need to set the proper password

Try using qnet-ftp.js instead (in you VERT QWKnet call-out command-line). I think there are still unresolved issues with the HTTP[S] support for QWK packet transfers.

Yeah, I logged in to VERT as *STARBRDS, as that seemed the easiest option.

Yeah, I logged in to VERT as *STARBRDS, as that seemed the easiest option.

Ah, interesting. Yeah, normally, you'd just post a message from your BBS. But if you're having sending or receiving problems, I can see why you'd post directly. Most Synchronet sysops usually create an account on Vertrauen for themselves (separately from their QWKnet account), but it's not mandatory.

Yeah, I don't have one, the only account on Vert I have is for the QWKnet transfers.

I tried posting from here a couple of times, which is how I discovered that uploads weren't working.

I figured if I had screwed up the QWK account somehow, creating a separate user was just going to confuse matters. "Did I break my account? Not *this* one, the random other one I might not be able to actually prove is mine."

Anyway, sending messages now works correctly, netmail is working, everything's good. Thanks for the help. :)
