  • Fidoin running very frequently

    After setting up fidonet on my bbs I noticed fidoin is running in irregular minutes instead of the set 8 times per day set in scfg. Is there another setting I have missed or is this normal?

    Most likely, yes. Your mailer (BinkIT?) is likely just creating/touching the fidoin.now semaphore file that triggers the Synchronet Terminal Server "event thread" to run the FIDOIN timed event because there are new inbound files. You don't normally even need the FIDOIN event to run at specific times or intervals since it gets triggered by the mailer when needed.

    Most likely, yes. Y don't normally even need the FIDOIN event to run at specific times or interv since it gets triggered by the mailer when needed.

    Thank You Digital Man! I have run a BBS for almost 40 years and am now just getting into FidoNet. LOL. I will let it do its thang. I watched your Youtube video on how to set up Fidonet and it worked perfectly. No issues getting started, easy as pie. Thank you Sir.

    every binkit connection. Here it runs several times an hour.

    Well.... just as a point of clarification ... FIDOIN will run after
    every Binkit connection *that has inbound mail*. It won't run if it's
    just a node polling for mail on hold; or certainly not for the random
    bot connections.
