    Link for FILEGATE is dead.

    Cool.

It would be very helpful if you could provide such a link...

That was a Janis-thing, its best to be removed entirely.

Yes... but when she went, the entire filegate went with her.

There are no more "Nab" star-systems either, except for lowercase Mark Lewis who is largely quiet and do not believe there is a domain for.

Since all fileechoes ultimately ends up on my system you could just replace it with https://www.darkrealms.ca/files/fidonet.htm

Not true, the Filegate system never stopped functioning, Vince Coen has been running it for some years now while Janis still held the domain. Before Janis passsed away she was going to take over running the Filegate but that didn't happen because of cancer issues most likely but it's not really relevant, the point being the Filegate is still functioning but without a domain.

Not true, the Star System is and has been functioning for a number of years with the same five nodes.

That just shows that the Filegate is still functioning with the FGATEZXX.ZIP being release every month by Vince Coen. It is up to Vince Coen to add a
    domain for the Filegate.

Maybe I am wrong but your comments come over as a hijacking attempt of the Filegate as you know it is a file distribution system with all files going through a core node who manages the file areas.

Wonderful... so right now at this moment, the Fido site has a dead link.
That link should be removed until such time as there IS a domain or at least pointed elsewhere, right?

Oh really? Who are they and why has nobody told "me"... as you write:

It is up to Vince Coen as the Filegate coordinator to supply a link, if
doesn't want to then Ward can remove the link on fidonet.org but in either
case the Filegate continues to operate as it has for the past 30 years or so.

Because they don't have to tell you.

It's more to do with what your system doesn't do in this case and that is it's NOT the coordinator of Filegate, it's NOT the central file hub and does NOT create and distribute the monthly list of file areas.

Vince Coen has done a pretty good job of running the Filegate since taking
over from Janis, I for one appreciate it.

If you were to take over running the Filegate from Vince when he decides to give it up, I would support you.

Until Ward took over the fidonet domain it was a mess with lot's of issues,
the link for the filegate is just another issue to be fixed, IMHO the link should be about the Filegate not a system.

Amazing how my simple offer of files turns into getting a lecture for an antiquated methodology from someone clearly unware of what my system is or Fidoweb peering where "stars" are completely irrelevant... and actually depend on my system to produce a publication much noise is made if it stops working.

When my system has close to a hundred downlinks and is the mass-dumping-ground in Zone 1 for everything unroutable, undeliverable, and files from your beloved Filegate arrive here... sometimes with no Tic attachments, incomplete files or vice-versa; which "star" is accountable for their incompetence?

Don't answer. End of topic. I have a domain. Vince and your "stars" do not, nor appear competent to coordinate with a Zone coordinator.

Your right it is an antiquated system as it part Fidonet which is also an antiquated system which will stay that way due to no desire to change things. Why did you bring up "stars" and Mark Lewis anyway? Orginal message was about
a link to your system for Filegate which I disagreed with as the link wasn't about Filgate. BTW, I checked and the filegate domain is still held by Janis which is why probaly why Vince doesn't host it.

Of course you system is a mass dumping ground as you are top of the food chain for Zone 1, which tells me that you have downlinks with issues that need fixing. Maybe why the Nodelist Police get under your skin?

Irrelevant having a domain is not an issue, most fidonet nodes have a domain. Remember a Zone coordinator is only a nodelist clerk so there is no need to coordinate witth you.

If you don't want me to answer, simple don't answer.

Please educate me on how one obtains a domain from a dead person? When it expires and a squatter grabs it will you or Vince pay the $$$ demanded?

It's either wait for filegate.net to be available or use another domain name which is relevant such as filegate.info which is a available. BTW, I would pay for the domain if Vince Coen who is the filegate coordinator wanted or was willing to host the site.

Your "stars" have no hats but are happy to shake their dandruff to my inbound.

Last I looked in the nodelists some of the "stars" had hats, but being top of the food chain you end up with the crap from below, part of the position of wearing the top hat for Zone 1..

Filegate is part of fidonet or it wouldn't have been on the fidonet.org for so many years so it's on topic.
