Be sure and remind us all again when that happens, as I'm pretty sure

You really want me to do that?

Other than that, hoping you are surrounded by loved-ones this special season. It was my first Christmas eve without my wife in 46 years...

    Hey Ward,

season. It was my first Christmas eve without my wife in 46 years...

That must have been something new and different for you. Cant imagine what that would be like, but I'm sure it kindles some fond memories - and you still are able to create new ones.

46 years is a good innings.

Nah, was just poking the bear a little, as I doubt many current Fidonet
sysops even know what the FTSC is. I mean, it's not like they're doing anything that affects anybody, any more. Even that assumes they are
    doing anything AT ALL.

Other than that, hoping you are surrounded by loved-ones this special season. It was my first Christmas eve without my wife in 46 years...

I'm sorry about that, Ward, and hope you are dealing with that the best
that you can. Very difficult, I'm sure.

It's a quiet holiday here this year, just me and the wife. The kids
(and grandkids) are spending this Christmas with the "in-law" parents,
and then will be here again next year.

Best wishes for a happy New Year.

It's tough at times if your relationship was as complete and total as was ours. Bjorn has a similar tale.

At times the administration surrounding all that is ruthless ... for example I was due a refund on my taxes. So about a month ago I got a letter from the tax-office telling they will hold the refund unless I can present a signed declaration by my wife that I have complied with all the details of our divorce ... she died for crying out loud ...

So I called this office and they politely explained that they treat every death of one of the partners in a married couple as "a divorce" ... My rebuttal to such nonsense contained several choice words of a rare quality.

46 years is a good innings.

Sometimes rare ... neither of my 2 sisters got that far, the younger-one is at her 2nd divorce and 3rd husband.

    Howdy,

So I called this office and they politely explained that they treat every death of one of the partners in a married couple as "a divorce" ... My rebuttal to such nonsense contained several choice words of a rare quality.

Its bizare that these people in offices are other people. I'd find it hard to understand that logic, let alone enforce it...

Did you happen upon the magic elixir?

Or maybe its a (younger) sister thing? My sister is on her second...

If it's anything like government in the states, it's a collection of
people doing as little as possible in order to not make waves and
retire in 35 years with a pension. Do what you're supposed to do, no
more, no less and don't make waves. Keep your head down and eventually
you'll retire. You're probably union, so you'll get cost of living and
merit increases, guaranteed. No need to excel, or use logic or anything
    - if anything, it's discouraged.
