The media is trying to convince everyone that Jimmy Carter was a "great leader" and Biden has been repeating it.
Great leaders don't serve just 1 term; they get re-elected.

Why do people wait until somebody dies before they start lying about howreat
they were? That's disrespectful. I've done it before, but I've grown up
since then.
I'll say this much about Jimmy Carter: People from Georgia are oftenriendly,
polite, and descent, and Jimmy was from there.

I'm old enough to recall the energy crisis in the 70's.... the long lineups to get gas... And Jimmy said if you're too cold in your house because you can't afford heat... Put a sweater on.
Carter was a great leader in places other than the Presidency, though. His work with Habitat for Humanity and other similar efforts brought a
lot of attention to the cause. He may have also been a good Governor.
As I was not, and have never been, a Georgia resident I cannot speak to that one way or the other.

Are you sure he was a "great leader" outside the presidency? Habitat for humanity provides homes to people who didn't work hard enough to buy one on their own.
It seems like a good funneling opportunity for Democrat opportunists with all the construction contractors that are involved.
That sounds a lot like Biden's "Expect less" suggestion. Very smug and selfish. I bet Jimmy didn't hesitate to crank up the thermostat in his house.

For someone to qualify for a Habitat home, they must work on the project as the home is built. IIRC, they must also be able to assume the mortgage, which will be less expensive than a regular one.

Most of the construction contractors are volunteers, and at least some of the materials are donated, presumably for the tax write-off.

A co-worker was going to get a house through Habitat. Put in a lot of hours working on homes for others, then he backed out. Not sure why he did it, but that's how he is.
At least others benefited from his work.
