• The other echo

There's another politics echo on Fidonet: "All Politics."

Was that one moderated by Lee?

Not sure. He moderated the CONSPIRACY echo. That is the one I suggest
anyone here who likes to talk about the deep state being after Matt Gaetz because they want to recruit him (why?!?), or that George W. Bush is stupid
but yet also so incredibly smart that he can make buildings fall "faster
than gravity," go to discuss such nonsense.

It seems odd that a leftist would want people discussing those kinds of things.

Most conspiracies (that I know of) are geared against leftists. Do they have any conspiracies against the right?

He didn't post in there very much.

IIRC, the echo was meant for any kind of conspiracies. The examples I gave
are certainly conspiracies, and one was in regards to a former Republican President. I figure any leftists (and apparently some MAGAs) would eat
    that right up.

I don't know if Lee (or others) discouraged sharing conspiracies based on political lean. That echo is a passthru here, and none of the active nodes
in Net 2320 are even carrying it right now.

Like I said the "Bush did 9/11" crap is at least against a Republican. So
was the "Russian collusion" conspiracy, a favorite of at least two former posters here.

He didn't post in there very much.

Interesting. Once upon a time, he was trying to get me to start posting
there. I was not interested because I don't usually follow conspiracies.

A lttle off-topic, but what's involved in having your own echo? Just curious.

    Thanks.

It's a simple matter of creating an echo area and then making it available to other nodes to link to.

If the topic is interesting to enough people you will have a successful echo.

Good old Lee must have ran out of conspiracies to talk about. I posted in there a couple times and he replied but the threads died quickly.

The short answer is that you add a message area to your bbs as an FTN networkable area and then try to get others (like your hub) to carry it by advertising it. IIRC, there is an echo ads echo that you can advertise
    them in.

There is the ELIST that you can get it listed on, that might make it a
little easier to get people to pick it up (although I am not too sure it
does make it easier). I would ask about the details of how to get listed
in the ELIST echo. The one thing that listing it in the ELIST can do is
keep others from claiming it is their echo and not yours.

The way I did it with nearly all the echoes I moderate, like this one, was
that someone else asked me if I wanted to take an existing echo over.
