In my opinion, it is abundantly clear that the American economy is hurtling towards at least a recession, and possibly worse.

Why?

1. Trump says he's doing everything to eliminate the government deficit, but the DOGE actions are empty gestures that are often short-sighted and cause more problems and costs than the savings they generate.

2. The Trump administration is spending more and is therefore not cutting back at all. Trump also wants to reduce taxes and thus government revenue.

3. The US relationship with foreign countries has become completely toxic. The turnover of American companies abroad will therefore decrease. Fewer travelers will also go to the US.

4. Tax revenues in the US will be hugely disappointing. That, combined with (much) less turnover in the US, will only worsen the government deficit.

5. Companies are afraid to invest because the circumstances have become too uncertain.

6. Consumer confidence in the US is declining rapidly because consumers see that everything is becoming significantly more expensive.

In short, there is no positive news. It's gloom and doom on all fronts, and that will be felt in the market.
