It's no longer just Trump escalating the relationship. Now that the US has shown its weak spot and Trump has yielded, the Chinese are taking a completely different stance and aren't shying away from imposing significant tariffs on certain products themselves.
They know they'll win this tariff war, and apparently, Trump now has to eat humble pie. He's offended them a bit too much. Trump has done much more harm than good for the world.
The question now, of course, is whether Europe can chart its own course toward China. The willingness to do so will primarily have to come from China. Europe is an interesting market, but Europe is also difficult for China because Europe has quite a few demands regarding how China should treat its own minorities. Europe keeps complaining about the genocide of certain population groups. What are they meddling in...
