I'm beginning to realize that the BBS people who say they don't want to talk politics are just saying that because they are brainwashed
leftists,
they know that they're dealing with people who actually
compute, and they're afraid to be wrong about something.
Deep down they really do have political beliefs, but those beliefs are half baked notions that are sitting on the back burner next to other discarded thought processes like 2 chapters of a karate book that they never finished.
It's ok to be wrong, but instead of suppressing it these people should grow from it.
"brainwashed leftists" is a redundant term.
Not only are they half baked, but they willfully ignore any facts that go against those political beliefs. That's why I term their "political beliefs" as a "narrative". It's less about fact and more about performance.

I was just explaining to my kid yesterday that when I went to college
all the stuff I learned went to my head. Suddenly I was using words
that I never used before, I was criticizing people who didn't write in
MLA format, and I understood things that the news was talking about, things I never understood before.
But then one day I realized that I was being a smug ahole, that
vocabulary isn't a valuable life skill, and neither is writing, and
that I was understanding the news more because I was brainwashed. (We
were driving past the college.)
But then one day I realized that I was being a smug ahole, that vocabulary isn't a valuable life skill, and neither is writing, and that I was understanding the news more because I was brainwashed. (We were driving past the college.)
Somehow I was gifted with more self-awareness than the average person.
I saw myself becomming this early on and stopped the progression.
But I saw it in sooooo many people when I was in large corporations. It was always funny to (not really on purpose) make them look like fools. The smarter ones straightened out. The dumb ones.... well, let's say
that stupidity is terminal.

That's the Jesus way. Don't lose sight of the things that are truly important, and insignificant things will work themselves out.
