There's a BBS called "Slackers" and it has an IRC feature. I had been BBS-friends with the sysop of that BBS for almost 10 years. We used to chat about all kinds of stuff. He was a cool Canadian guy.

All along, I always blabbed pro-Trump stuff in the chat. A few of the other people in the chat are also MAGA, even some Canadian MAGA. But not my buddy, the sysop. He always stayed quiet about politics.. until one day when he started to show symptoms of TDS.

I'm a political guy, but I'm not like one of those weird guys from Burger King who ONLY talks politics 24/7. I'll talk about other stuff. But my Canadian buddy got such a bad case of TDS that he banned me from his BBS and thereby banned me from the chat too.

It's ok but it's so stupid. I love Trump and I think TDS people are stupid, but I'm nice to them and I wouldn't kick them off my BBS. What a D1ck.

So let me tell you the stories that I have on this.

The main BBS I used to call was big one. I will be nice and not name it. This was at the hight of the COVID scamdemic and I stated some opinions about people who lined up for the jab and all the boosters. (BTW: History has proven my opinions were correct.) He didn't like what I said and at some point, he said that he blocked me.

Now I took that to mean that he added me on to his twit list so that he wouldn't have to see my messages.

Nope. He told his BBS to filter out all my messages to everywhere. So if I posted a response in a networked message base on his BBS, it went to no other system. Talk about cancel culture. On top of that, if one of my messages from a different BBS on those networked bases went THROUGH his BBS, his BBS would silently drop that message.

Now if he had simply blocked me from his BBS, that would have been fine. He's the sysop and can do that, but to quietly suppress my messages from other BBSs - a total jerk move.

I've found this happening in some other networked message bases too. Sysops of BBSs that I don't call filter my messages on their BBSs so that messages I leave on other BBSs can't go through their systems.

So I call several BBSs and overlap the networked message bases to see if my messages are getting filtered.

And there are networked message bases I don't bother to try to participate in anymore. Note that I'm probably not the only one that they did this to because most of those networks are pretty much dead now.

That's major overkill. This guy who kicked me off his BBS went to great lengths too. I try to log in and it says "All nodes are in use." (I'm certain that that's not some weird Mystic bug.)

If I were still running a BBS, I would certainly welcome people who disagree with my political views.

Zeronet is kind of a fart-sniffing operation. You have to say things that JP wants to hear or else you'll hear it from him. The 2 or 3 people who post on there know how to please him.

I like the Dovenet guys. They are pretty decent.
