of times it installed into a dir of /home/sbbs/sbbs/,
I have copied my Windows SBBS right over the top of it, but it
    never
took for some reason. So I started using ChatGPT, that helped
    alot.
Finally I installed it on the root as /sbbs copied the main
directories of sbbs and it'sup and running now. ChatGPT helped
correct all the old windows directories and it's working just
    like
    under Windows.

What exactly did ChatGPT tell you that was helpful in this matter?

I had ChatGPT create a java script to read the msgs.ini and create a "goldedarea.txt file with group ID's, sorted by ID, put in my Golded directory and read by same. Works great. One for Windows and one for Linux.

I'm surprised ChatGPT was able to create a working JavaScript script to do that for you. I've seen people ask ChatGPT things about Synchronet and it would usually get things wrong - but it would still sound confident in what it gave you.

I started by telling ChatGPT to read the msgs.ini, I copied the output that MysticBBS creates when you have it make a goldedarea.txt. With that information it created a java script to make me a text file that added group id's, and sort by those id's. After a couple of tweeks it now makes me a "Goldedareas.txt file that I tell GoldED to read with an "INCLUDE". I have one for my Windows and Linux systems. I also had ChatGPT make a Python script for Mystic to tweek the output that Mystic creates to work better with Golded also.

Now ChatGPT sometimes has to really work on what I want, but it does give me exactly what I want done.

    you mean .js?

yeah it does okay with text formatting.

Yea of course. I've also had it look at a Mystic python script and convert it into java for SBBS. That kinda worked.

Synchronet doesn't use Java; I think you mean JavaScript.

Also I'm surprised that worked, unless you're very specific about pointing ChatGPT to Mystic and Synchronet's documentation and ChatGPT was able to figure everything out. I'm skeptical about ChatGPT being able to do that though.
