    Speaking for myself, I am sticking with utf-8 and the heck with the lack of technical support in Fidonet.

    Nothing wrong with that. The problem is simply that fidonet nodes all use different systems and many can only use retro software on their gear. There is nothing stoping a segment of fidonet systems to support utf-8 in their own designated echos, even for Mumbai. ;)

    Looks to render just fine in Claws Mail on Windows 11, aside from the original when I was using slrn in a Linux console, using "Monospace Normal
    - 10", FYI. So maybe it is indeed Sylpheed specific.

    Sure, whatever is the main language in Mumbai is what I googled for, and then ran through Google translate. :)

    That's wierd, though. Some rando language like that works fine in Sylpheed, but Japanese doesn't. lol

    I still have some tests to pass before things get back to normal but so far there isn't anything fatal rearing it's ugly head ... yet. The weather lately gave me a good scare but other than some roof damage and 48 hour power outage I suvrived. Also managed to do roof repairs so I am appear to be good to go until the next violence from mother nature. It can and does happen at this time of year. :-(
